JIMIN (AOA) Makes A Comeback With "WALKING TALKING" And 1CHU Come Back With "PUNK HOT"

JIMIN (지민) - WALKING TALKING 

JIMIN (real name Shin Jimin) is a South Korean rapper and singer and former member of the girl-group AOA and its sub-unit AOA Black. Jimin made her debut as a member of AOA on July 30, 2012 with the group's first single album "Angels' Story" and as a solo singer she debuted again on March 3, 2016 with her first digital single "Call You Bae". On April 13, 2024 Jimin made a comeback with her fifth digital single "WALKING TALKING", a follow-up to her fourth digital single "Twinkle Little Star" that was released on December 11, 2023. 

The song is described by the artist as "A homebody (INFP)'s travel story in the corner of her room,  A song about her lovely daily life." Musically the track is a melancholic, indie, mid-tempo, pop-rock song with inspiring lyrics and a positive message. Jimin turns a page musically away from her signature rapping with the consecutive heys and the result is surprisingly good. The song is super-catchy and melodic and a perfect platform for her to showcase her musical abilities which has always been in question during her AOA days. 

This comeback flew under my radar, it just appeared out of nowhere with zero hype and promotions, but this isn't a run-of-the-mill song or comeback, this is special. Jimin is back and better than ever! 

1CHU (원츄) - PUNK HOT 

1CHU (원츄) is a female duo under Moai Entertainment consisting of members Sulhee (설희) and Chaerin (채린). The group was originally formed as the first sub-unit of the girl-group HeyGirls, but after HeyGirls' disbandment on December 26, 2023 the group became independent. The group made its debut on July 12, 2022 with the digital single "Oasis" and on April 15, 2024 made a comeback with its third digital single "PUNK HOT". This single is the follow-up to the group's second digital single "Siren" that was released on April 10, 2023. 1CHU is also a part of the Korean-Japanese project group Puzzle (퍼즐) that debuted on November 20, 2023 with the digital single "I" and the song "Savior". 

"Punk Hot" is a retro-90s, punk-pop, live-oriented track with a catchy rhythm and bubbly chorus. It blends K-pop with a unique rock sound to capture the essence of youthful passion and freedom. According to their press release, "PUNK HOT" is a message of hope to those tired of their busy and repetitive daily lives, reminding us that even a rough and unrefined youth is beautiful in its own right.
