ILLIT (아일릿) - Magnetic

ILLIT (아일릿) is a five-member girl-group under Belift Lab, a a sub-label of HYBE, that was formed through the JTBC reality show "R U Next?". The album will contain four tracks and the physical release on a CD will come out in two versions:  Super Me and Real Me version.

ILLIT (아일릿) - Magnetic

Another subsidiary of HYBE debuting another girl-group with the exact same concept and sound as NewJeans. As if it wasn't enough turning Le Sserafim to NewJeans 2.0! Magnetic is not a bad song but it is a bad debut song. It sounds like a NewJeans B-side track: mellow, soft-pop, repetitive, nonchalant and easy-listening. It feels like HYBE chose a concept and is forcing all its subsidiaries to conform to it whether they like it or not.

The song is also unfortunately rather bland and forgettable and the chorus ends up more annoying than uplifting. Nothing in the song leaves an impression and there is no point that makes any member shine and show its charms, which is the main objective on a debut song. And as if it wasn't enough that the song itself reminds you of NewJeans they are using the same exact concept of five young and fresh girls with long black hair and natural make-up dancing to an almost a non-scripted choreography. I honestly feel it is too unfair for the girls who have obviously worked too hard for their debut.
