Dreamcatcher (드림캐쳐) - OOTD
Review
"OOTD" represents the confidence of a mature group and showcases their powerful, signature rock sound. Like all of Dreamcatcher's title tracks, "OOTD" blends rock/metal elements with EDM beats into the melody, helping it stand out from mainstream K-pop music. Dreamcatcher's distinct sound and performance, as well as its connection to their previous storylines and concepts is here once again.
"OOTD" is a satirical song and the music video follows suit, as it contains hints that indicate a deeper meaning to both the song and the music video. The ultra-glamorous visuals are simply there for the sake of the storyline. The music casually parodies your typical K-pop girl-crush MVs, with members pretending to be arrogant and self-involved in the main narrative. True to the theme, Handong is seen standing in a room surrounded by mirrors and Yoohyeon obsessively taking selfies, implying that they are obsessed with their looks to the point that it is not healthy. The use of photo-editing tools as special effects further emphasizes the theme of breaking apart the illusion, creating an image that is not real.
In conclusion, Dreamcatcher are back with another epic, heavy masterpiece that is as catchy and powerful as any of their pervious releases. True to form since their debut the girls once again deliver an anthem for the new generation.
