Song Review: SOMI Makes A Comeback With "DUMB DUMB", AKMU Release Music Video For "Bench" And NADA Comes Back With "Spicy"

SOMI (전소미) - DUMB DUMB 

SOMI made a dynamic comeback today on August 2, 2021 with her third digital single "Dumb Dumb". This song is the follow-up to her second digital single "What You Waiting For" which was released on July 22, 2020, that is more than a year ago! 

As always the production values are very high but the song itself is very formulaic and never strays from the Black Label "pattern". "DUMB DUMB" is a fun but frustrating comeback that shows flashes of potential without fully delivering. Co-produced by Teddy, who has crafted hits for BLACKPINK, 2NE1, BigBang and other YG artists, the track conforms to his familiar "beat drop chorus + chanted climax" template. 

AKMU - BENCH (with Zion.T) 

AKMU released on August 1, 2021 a new music video for the song "BENCH " featuring Zion.T from their first collaboration album "Next Episode" which was released on July 26, 2021. This would be the fifth music video from their new album.

NADA (나다) - Spicy (신) 

Nada (나다) is a South Korean rapper and singer currently under World Star Entertainment and a former member of the girl group Wassup. Nada made her solo debut on December 23, 2016 with the digital single "Seorae Village". "Spicy" is her fifth digital single and was released on July 31, 2021. 

The music video is a lavish, in-your-face spectacle, opening with NADA in a flowing red gown, beckoning listeners to taste her spicy flavor. "The MV is wreckless, loud, in your face, and totally lavish.
