Review
"Alcohol-Free" sees the veteran K-pop girl group stepping out of their comfort zone with a breezy bossa nova summer track infused with hip-hop elements. The song expresses the feeling of being drunk with love without actually drinking any alcohol and marks a departure from TWICE's signature energetic pop sound in favor of a more laidback, tropical vibe. The mellow arrangement features acoustic guitars, subtle strings, and a chill beat that transports the listener to a beachside bar. While a refreshing change of pace, the song ultimately feels stuck between fully committing to its bossa nova roots and delivering a catchy pop chorus, but while some fans will be quick to criticize this change of direction, I personally applaud their deciscion to bring some much needed fresh air to K-pop.
