LIGHTSUM (라잇썸) is an eight-member girl group under Cube Entertainment. The group consists of members: Sangah (상아), Chowon (초원), Nayoung (나영), Hina (히나), Juhyeon (주현), Yujeong (유정), Huiyeon (휘연) and Jian (지안). LIGHTSUM made their debut on June 10, 2021 with their debut single album "Vanilla". The single will contain only a single track but will get a physical release on a CD. 

Review

The song, despite its obviously, plain 'vanilla' title, is a vibrant and energetic track that stands out in the overcrowded K-pop market. While some fans may argue that the song doesn't bring anything new to the genre, the track features some catchy hooks and well-timed power notes. LIGHTSUM's vocals are not exceptional, but their performance is vibrant and well executed showcasing the girls' abilities. The post-chorus breakdown with its enlivening and refreshing part is definitely the highlight of the track. Overall, "Vanilla" is a fun, enjoyable, and most importantly a memorable debut for LIGHTSUM.
